Pi shop
History
Pi Shop (LACC’s Mathematics and Computer Science Tutoring Center) opened officially in the fall of 1998. At that time there were only six tutors and 100 students. Because of its value to students, it has grown to 15 tutors helping over 700 students, and is still growing. Many students consider the Pi Shop crucial to their learning of mathematics, and the student success rates speak very highly for it: 85% of those who use the Pi Shop pass their math classes, compared with a pass rate of 76% for those who take Math classes but don’t use the Pi Shop. Our tutoring center helps students learn how to succeed in mathematics; provides them tutoring at all levels of math and helps them to develop the study skills that make learning math easier and more enjoyable.
