On October 20, 2011, Dr.
Margaret Martin and Project Harmony
received the Presidential Citizens Medal. Dr.
Martin, an alumna of LACC, was selected out of 6000 nominations to
receive this honor for her work with Project Harmony. Project
Harmony (founded by Dr. Martin) is an award-winning nonprofit
organization that targets at-risk youth in underserved areas of Los
Angeles. They promote positive youth development through on-going
year-round music lessons and ensemble participation.
